The problem today is one of ideological bias and identity

Who am I? What defines me? What do I stand for? How can I make a mark or difference in society? How can I feel important or special?

These are questions that most people tend to ask themselves at some point in their lives. Of course these questions are not all encompassing, or applicable to everyone because we are all different, but most of us tend to try and define ourselves by inadvertently stuffing ourselves into some type of ideological box at one point or another. That box eventually becomes part of who we are - it becomes a large part of our identity. To have those ideological beliefs or positions challenged in any way means we see our identity, who we are, as being challenged. We can no longer separate the ideology from ourselves and we tend to lose sight of the fact that criticism of an ideology is not criticism of us as individuals.

This, I feel, is the main problem with much of society today. People cannot take any criticism for anything without feeling personally attacked. People retreat into ideological groups for safety and reassurance. Our ideologies, in a way, become our safe spaces.

We are so determined to prove that our ideologies are the only ones that are rational or right that we become blinded to any other points of view that may contradict what we believe. We ignore any facts or opinions that may run contrary to our ideologies and we settle into a state of willful ignorance about anything that contradicts what we believe to be true.

Having our beliefs supported by others that share those same beliefs makes us feel safe. There is safety in numbers - in groups. Our identity remains safe as long as we surround ourselves with others like us, who become a constant source - feeding a narrative, so to speak - of affirmation and confirmation that what we believe is right. Ideologies becomes a sort of echo chamber where each person uses the next as a source for constant reassurance, and no one challenges or criticizes the other for fear of being ostracized from the group and thus loosing one's sense of self.

There tends to be an ideological purity test within most groups where those who fail are marginalized or kicked out. We see it all the time in political groups, but it exists in many other types of groups no matter how large or small. It may be in your face, or subtle, but the likelihood is that it is indeed there.

It is very hard to avoid becoming biased about an ideologically held point of view or belief. We all hold them, but we do not all know how to spot our biases, let alone admit we have them. To look inward and admit we are indeed biased means admitting to ourselves that we may be disregarding facts or acting willfully ignorant - we would have to admit our ideology, our identity, is somehow flawed. These are things that cause discomfort and internal conflict, so we tend to actively avoid them.

The tendency to avoid anything uncomfortable or conflicting is quite apparent in today's social climate. No one wants to be challenged, no one wants to feel uncomfortable, no one wants to be questioned. Everything has to be safe, non-confrontational, and accommodating. It is the equivalent to everyone getting a trophy in T-Ball - where everyone is a winner, because to lose would be 'uncomfortable'. We have gotten to the point now where we have somehow equated discomfort with emotional trauma. If anyone is made to feel uncomfortable in any way they are a victim who needs immediate intervention - immediate coddling to get them back to their safe space and comfort zone.

People like to believe that they are above criticism. They have developed a sense of entitlement, where no one is allowed to challenge their ideologies because that would be an assault on them as an individual. There are victims everywhere now.

So how can we try to avoid this? Intense adherence to any ideology can vegetate one’s mind, as Charlie Munger, an American business magnate, lawyer, investor, and philanthropist explains better than I could:

Say what you will about Munger, but this is indeed good advice. List what your ideological beliefs are, and why you hold those beliefs to be true. Look deep into why those 'truths' are indeed true, and look at things that do not necessarily conform to your ideological positions. Challenge yourself to be your own opponent, your own worst critic. If you can achieve that, then you are well on your way to avoiding as much ideological bias as possible.

And always be open to differing opinions, criticism, and advice. Being open to these things does not mean you readily accept them, but it does mean you can take them, look at them, and test them to see if they hold up under careful scrutiny. Dismissing things without taking the time to consider them can make you look extremely biased and ill-informed.

Ideological bias is pernicious. It has the ability to rot the brain and render it apathetic. Reminding yourself of your own ideological biases, and examining opposing opinions, facts, or views on a regular basis is one way of keeping yourself on your toes and out of a state of mental apathy. Keep yourself in a state of constant awareness when discussing issues that you feel make up your identity.

Above all, remember that you should not remain static, and that you should strive to always be learning and evolving as an individual. You should not be content to remain in the confines of a box, but strive to break out of it and challenge yourself, as well as others. Don't let an ideology or others define you, let you define you. Be confident in who you are without needing a group or an ideology to prop you up and define you. Do not become a victim of ideological biases that serve only to limit you as an individual, rather than define you as one.

The Mens Rights Movement Needs a Major Over-Haul

The Mens Rights Movement (MRM) as we know it today has become a useless, incompetent, inactive, and ineffective movement. In fact it no longer has any real qualities of an activist movement, but rather it is quite similar to a nasty bowel movement. It has completely gone down the shitter, and rightly so with the likes of Paul Elam and AVFM at the helm. They have done nothing to help men, and never will. Elam has admitted as much, and his Titanic of a website is taking on water, fast.

AVFM has indeed put the MRM on the map, but in the worst way possible. It has a horrible history of inflammatory and shoddy articles written by amateurs who have no clue how to really write or research anything. Most of their raison-d'etre seems to be in creating inflammatory articles, starting drama after drama, and doing absolutely nothing to actually help men.

I have to admit that it has indeed achieved one thing though - it has been able to get itself listed as a hate site with the SPLC, and other hate-site watching organizations. This is great news for the MRM isn't it? Every time someone declares that they are an MRA, they are immediately accused of being part of a hate group/movement because of the great work AVFM has done. MRAs are seen as favorably as the KKK or white supremacists which is so helpful for everyone involved.

The MRM needs to seriously clean house and undergo a major re-haul if it ever wants to do anything real to help men. It needs to re-brand and re-focus. It needs to accept that the old ways of doing things are not working and that change needs to happen - that is if the MRM is indeed truly interested in helping men instead of acting like gossiping old hens, or children having a tantrum in the sandbox.

Focusing on what feminism is doing wrong, or how they are behaving, etc... does nothing for men's rights. All it does is satisfy a useless need to badmouth the opposing side. What really needs to happen is for the MRM to stop focusing on feminism and start focusing squarely on men and the issues that men face. There needs to be a new movement that does not waste so much time and effort on attacking feminism, but rather focuses all of it's time and energy changing and improving things for men. It needs to leave the animosity and hatred for feminism aside and focus on what is truly important - because having a mens rights movement that talks about and bashes feminism 99% of the time is useless to men who truly need help. Bashing feminism does not shelter, feed, protect, or save men. It only serves to make the MRM look completely bitter, incompetent, gossipy, and useless.

Unless the MRM cleans house, it will never get anywhere. It is a joke in it's current state and until things seriously change, it always will be. I for one don't think mens issues are a joke, do you? Maybe it's time to stand up and demand better - demand change.

No Catcalling Signs Erected in New York. Felines Protest - Quietly.

Feminists have erected (oops, that's a penis reference word) 'No Catcall' signs throughout New York, specifically Brooklyn and Manhattan, in an effort to stop street harassment.

I have to say that these signs are quite confusing. Let's look at the different signs that they have chosen to put up.

This one is quite odd. Who are these red men who look like toilet stall sign figures? And why are they harassing red cats?

This one seems to be aimed either at cats or cat owners. It either means that Fluffy can't meow in these areas because it may harass people in the area. On the other hand it could mean that you cannot call for Fluffy in these specific areas if she runs away because that may make Fluffy feel harassed, and we all know how angry a harassed pussy can get.

That's one perturbed pussy!

Anita Sarkeesian - One of Time’s 100 Most Influential People? In a Bad Way.

Seems that Anita Sarkeesian has been chosen to represent 'Gaming' in Time's 100 Most Influential People, and I can predict that the gaming community is losing their collective shit over this recent announcement, and rightly so. She represents gaming in the same way the KKK represents multiculturalism, and to put her in the gaming category as the one to represent it is a huge insult to the gaming community as a whole.

Time has chosen Anita, a feminist that basically knows nothing about and hates everything about games to represent games? How does that even make sense? She is not a 'life long gamer', as she claims to be in her Time bio. She has admitted publicly that she is 'not a fan of video games' and that she had to 'learn a lot about video games in the process.' If anyone wants to see a whole series of videos debunking Anita's feminist 'logic', go to Thunderfoot's YouTube channel. He has quite a few videos in a playlist that are all very well researched and presented about Anita and her gaming/feminist bullshit.

Anita is nothing more than a fraud that has been ass-kissed the whole way by other feminists that basically hate anything male, and uphold women to be so special that they need the kid glove treatment constantly. And now that she has gotten into Time's top 100 list, she is gaining even more support for her professionally crafted victimhood character. Wil Wheaton was the one who wrote her bio for Time. I never liked him, and his character on Star Trek Next Gen. was major weaksauce, but now I just totally want to barf knowing he is a supporter of Anita. But then again he always struck me as not being the brightest bulb in the box.

However, Time is not wrong in saying she is influential. She is indeed influential, but not in any positive ways. She, and her ilk, have now created an exceptionally hostile environment for all women - one that did not really exist before these feminists busted onto the scene and made women in gaming, as well as comics, all look like whining, complaining, victim-playing little bitches. Now we women in those communities are all bearing the proverbial scarlet letter thanks to Anita and her feminist ilk.

All women are now seen as a 'feminist threat' in the gaming and comics communities because we are now being lumped in with these whining Anitaesque feminists. What Anita and her ilk have done is make it almost impossible for any women to be taken seriously in any aspect of the gaming or comics communities now. Men are either afraid of saying anything to us women for fear of any possible feminist backlash, or they are immediately hostile towards us women for those same types of reasons. And I don't blame them at all.

Men in the gaming and comics communities are now in the sad and confusing positions of not knowing how to react to any women within these communities. The feminists have made it so uncomfortable for everyone that the men just have no clue how to react to women in their midst anymore. Many have chosen to pander to the feminists, and in turn are pandering to all women which is just plain insulting. But it's not the men's fault. They are just trying to protect themselves, and who could blame them really? They have been put in such a horrible position now that I do not envy them one bit.

What used to be a laid-back environment where 'trash talk' was nothing more than just that, with no actual hatred for women or misogyny, has now become a virtual minefield where men are constantly being accused of misogyny, hate speech, and sexism by feminists.

Most women in these communities did not see any problems before because there actually weren't any. Sure some people can be assholes, but that happens in all communities everywhere. Encountering an asshole is just a part of life, and if you are an adult you ignore them and move on. You don't go cry in a corner like a child/feminist.

Most on-line gamers don't even know the genders of the people they play against, and don't care. If you can play, you play. And part of the playing includes trash-talk which both men and women engage in all the time. It used to be fun, and no one got their undies in a massive twist over any of it - Until the feminists entered the scene that is. Apparently they don't know where the off switch is for their consoles, or how to ignore assholes. And because of that we all must now pay the price for their inability to deal with life.

Feminists see victims everywhere they look. Nothing is acceptable and everyone has to curb their language for them or they risk a massive backlash like we are now seeing. Feminists can't deal with any adversity or reality, and they are hell bent on creating a utopian state where nothing uncomfortable ever happens - which is realistically impossible to attain, especially when everything makes them feel uncomfortable. But they don't care. Their fragile feelings are all that matter, no one elses are ever taken into consideration. If you say or do anything they don't like then you are the one who is in the wrong and to hell with what your opinions or feelings are. They will tar and feather you and drag you through the streets in order to humiliate you in front of everyone. This is how they work, and I do not blame men for being scared or angry at them for turning what was once a fun and enjoyable community into one that has to constantly pander to these feminists, or risk becoming one of their publicly vilified victims.

Women are now being told by feminists how they should be treated within these communities. Feminists are telling women like me that a guy trash-talking me is misogyny and hateful. That any guy saying anything 'insulting' is his way of expressing his absolute hatred and contempt for me as a woman, and for all women. That when I play a game with any scantily dressed women in it I am being somehow oppressed, and if I, as a woman, refuse to speak out against any of these things, I am somehow complicit in hurting women everywhere.

The message is plain insulting to me. I am an adult and fully capable of deciding on my own what I find 'acceptable' or not. And you know what I do when some guy trash talks me? I trash talk back. I don't go cry in a corner and then run to feminists to affirm my victimhood. I am fully capable of handling myself in these communities and proving myself on my own thank you very much. I don't need people like Anita or her ilk telling me how I should think, act, or feel. I am not a drone, I am an adult with the full capacity to speak for myself. And I respect other women by letting them do the same. Who am I to presume to be able to speak on behalf of all women? How insulting would that be for me to assume that what I may or may not find offensive is what all other women do too? To lump all women together without any consideration that they are actually individuals with their own free-will and ability to speak for themselves? As a woman you should be outraged and insulted that someone has presumed to be able to speak for you without your consent - To treat you like a child who doesn't know what is best for herself.

I truly resent having feminists presume they have the right to speak for women like me. I am not a child, and I do not need these mentally stunted people representing me, or any other women, in these communities. If they don't like how these communities are, then get the fuck out. Go make your own little club off to the side and play your little gender neutral games while patting each other on the back - Leave the adults to their games and let them decide how they will handle their own shit.

Now, thanks to these feminists, I am in the position where I have to convince guys that I am not a feminist that will jump down his throat for anything he says or does. I have to convince guys that I am not there to tell them what to do or how to do it - that I am not going to go cry victim in a corner if they say something that a feminist may find offensive. I have to now fight to be accepted in these communities as an adult instead of a feminist, and that is infuriating.

These feminists have taken away the equality and acceptance we women already had in these communities and replaced it with their feminist view that all women in these communities are now fragile little flowers that can't deal with anything.

Anita and her ilk have not helped women in these communities at all. They have done the complete opposite and made it highly uncomfortable for women like me, and for all the men as well. They have fractured a community that was quite happy and enjoyable before they came along with their shaming of men and constant victimhood of women.

Feminists need to back off and let women fight their own battles, if they ever encounter any that they feel need to be fought. Stop treating women like incompetent little children and let us decide what is or is not acceptable based on our own individual experiences. Stop coming into spaces where you are not welcome and attempting to control everything. Stop presuming to speak for me, or any other women in these communities - You are not welcome here.

Seriously, just get the fuck out and go cry about how horrible your lives are over in a corner somewhere else. I'll stick to the fun of trash-talking in games and deciding for myself what is or is not acceptable - That's what we adults do.

Sexism and Pandering in the Comic Industry.

sexism, sexism, SEXISM! That's all we seem to be hearing from feminists lately, and it is always about how women are portrayed as sexual objects or window dressings in games, comics, movies, etc... Anita Sarkeesian is one of the most vocal fans of sexism and the sexual objectification of women in games, even though she admitted she hardly knows anything about video games or even bothers to actually play them.

There is now a large and ever growing group of feminists crying sexism in the comics industry which has led to the gender reversal of many iconic superheroes from male to female. Thor is now a woman so we can appease the whiny masses. Why don't we just make Jesus into a woman? Santa Claus? Perhaps we should just dress up all our iconic male heroes in drag now, feminize them, and call it a day?

The industry is sadly pandering to these problem inventing feminists, and in the process are allowing them to imagine that their privileged western world non-issues are actually important issues that deserve some sort of actual attention. The industry has made a huge error in giving into these feminist delusions. By allowing them a voice they are allowing bad ideas to dictate a new standard that everyone must now follow and agree with. The idea that everyone has a right to be heard and that their opinions/beliefs actually matter is a myth. The reality is that bad opinions, beliefs and ideas should be put exactly where they belong - in a dark corner where no one pays them any attention. They should not be given a second thought or any consideration. They should be outright dismissed.

Those who support and pander to these bad ideas, which includes the comics industry, are now complicit in supporting the idea that women need to be given special attention and treatment - a leg up - because they are incapable of achieving anything on their own unless someone throws a public tantrum like a toddler until they are heard. Instead of creating new female characters they appropriate iconic male ones and turn them into females. Not only is this insulting to men by saying that the male character was somehow flawed and could only be fixed by turning them into a woman, but it also insults women because you are sending the message that the creation of a new female character would not have been as successful, so the only way a female character can succeed is to ride on the coattails of a male one. It's just another way that feminism has managed to infantilize and insult women by telling women the only way they can be successful is on the backs of others.

The industry needs to stop pandering to these people. They need to stand up and realize that what they are doing is not empowering women at all, but rather it is downright insulting them. An empowered and successful person does not ask for permission to succeed, nor do they take kindly to pandering. So why is it that feminists are constantly demanding both be done for women? It's because at feminism's core women are seen as incapable of anything without being hand-held or pandered to. If feminists allowed women to take the initiative to be successful and empowered as individuals if they so desired, then feminism would no longer be needed. But feminism has molly-coddled women for so long that women no longer know how to be successful or empowered without it. Feminism has created a completely dependent gender with no idea of how to succeed or achieve anything without riding on the backs of others. Women no longer have any real individual identity or esteem - it has all been so deeply intertwined with feminism that women are now seen as the gender that constantly needs to be pandered to and propped-up.

And thanks to large industries, like the comics one, we are further reinforcing the idea that women are only as capable as children and need to be treated as such. Turning our iconic male superheroes into female ones is a major mistake that brings with it a whole host of negative consequences that I am sure the comics industry had not even considered when they jumped onto the feminist pander-wagon.

But all hope is not lost if the industry is made aware of it's error by those that support it. If there is push-back over the appropriation of our iconic male superheroes and large vocal condemnation of it we can turn the tide and force the industry to re-think it's pandering errors. We need to insist that this type of female infantilization and degradation of men has to stop, and the way to do it is to hit them in their pocketbooks. After all, it is an industry that makes billions off their fans every year. If their profits go down they will get the message, and hopefully they will realize that gender-reassignment of our heroes was not the way to go.

No one is saying don't have strong, empowered female heroes - just let them become great heroes on their own without riding on the backs of others, like feminists already do in real life.
